FROM CAPTURE TO DELIVERABLE

Build the Processing Plan Backward From the Required Output.

The strongest Terra deployment starts with the deliverable—not the software button. Define accuracy, coordinate system, turnaround time and file format first, then configure capture and processing around those requirements.

01

Define

Set the deliverable, accuracy target, coordinate reference and review standard.

02

Capture

Collect RGB, LiDAR or multispectral data with the required overlap and positioning.

03

Process

Apply the appropriate reconstruction method and workstation resources to the dataset.

04

Validate

Review checkpoints, completeness, alignment and output quality before delivery.

CORE CAPABILITIES

One Platform, Multiple Reconstruction Workflows.

Choose the processing method that best matches the sensor, site conditions and required downstream deliverable.

LICENSING & DEPLOYMENT

Match the Edition and Binding Method to the Team.

Edition, online or offline binding, workstation ownership and collaboration model should be confirmed together—not treated as separate purchases.

CORE DEPLOYMENTSTANDARD

DJI Terra Standard

A practical starting point for teams building repeatable Terra reconstruction workflows on a dedicated Windows workstation.

  • Perpetual licence option
  • Online and offline availability
  • Dealer confirmation of included functions
DISTRIBUTED PROCESSINGCLUSTER

DJI Terra Cluster

An offline, dealer-configured architecture for distributing suitable large reconstruction projects across multiple worker devices.

  • Designed for substantial datasets
  • Control and worker device planning
  • Network and shared-storage review
ONLINE LICENSING Best when the workstation can authenticate reliably.

Paid features require internet access for an online-bound licence.

OFFLINE LICENSING Built for controlled or disconnected environments.

Dealer-supplied offline versions can use paid functions after binding, while internet-dependent services remain unavailable.

CONFIGURATION NOTE Confirm the exact edition before ordering.

Final functions, binding method and device plan are verified at quote.

WORKSTATION REQUIREMENTS

Size the Computer for the Dataset, Not Just the Minimum.

Official minimums establish compatibility. Production capacity depends on image count, resolution, reconstruction method, turnaround expectations and concurrent work.

Review your workstation plan
3D RECONSTRUCTION BASELINE CURRENT DJI GUIDANCE
OPERATING SYSTEM Windows 10 or later 64-bit
MINIMUM MEMORY 32 GB RAM 64 GB or more recommended
MINIMUM GRAPHICS 4 GB NVIDIA VRAM Shader Model 6.1 or later
RECOMMENDED GPU NVIDIA RTX 2070+ More GPU memory improves capacity

DJI’s current Terra FAQ states that macOS and non-NVIDIA graphics cards are not supported. Confirm compatibility before purchasing hardware.

DATA-CAPTURE ECOSYSTEM

Terra Is One Part of the Mapping System.

Sensor, aircraft, positioning, control and processing decisions all affect the final deliverable.

Photogrammetry Capture

Platforms such as DJI Matrice 4E, Mavic 3 Enterprise and Zenmuse P1 support RGB mapping at different scales.

Match camera, altitude and overlap to GSD.

LiDAR Capture

Zenmuse LiDAR payload workflows support point-cloud production for terrain, vegetation and complex structures.

Confirm payload and aircraft compatibility.

Multispectral Capture

Compatible multispectral platforms provide calibrated band data for vegetation-index and field-observation workflows.

Plan timing and calibration consistently.

Positioning & Control

RTK, checkpoints and ground control can support repeatable positioning and independent quality review.

Document the control method with every project.

CANADIAN DEPLOYMENT READINESS

Five Decisions Before the First Production Project.

A short planning session can prevent hardware mismatches, reprocessing and deliverables that do not meet the client’s actual use case.

01

Deliverable

Define the output, accuracy, format and acceptance criteria.

02

Coordinate System

Confirm projection, vertical reference and control method.

03

Workstation

Size GPU, memory, storage and processing time for the dataset.

04

Data Management

Plan local storage, backup, transfer and client data handling.

05

Quality Control

Document checkpoints, inspection steps and delivery sign-off.

DJI TERRA FAQ

Questions to Resolve Before Deployment.

These answers summarize current DJI guidance. Version, licence and compatibility details should be rechecked when the system is quoted.

Ask a Terra specialist
What types of data can DJI Terra process?

DJI Terra supports visible-light photogrammetry, LiDAR processing, multispectral reconstruction and 3D Gaussian Splatting workflows. The correct path depends on the sensor data and required output.

What is the difference between Standard and Flagship?

Both are available as perpetual licence options, with online and offline variants. The exact function set and best edition should be confirmed against the current DJI release and your required workflows.

Does DJI Terra run on a Mac?

No. DJI’s current guidance specifies a 64-bit Windows environment and NVIDIA graphics. macOS and non-NVIDIA graphics cards are not supported.

Can Terra process images from non-DJI cameras?

DJI indicates that non-DJI images can theoretically be used for 3D reconstruction, but results may be less reliable. Complete GPS or RTK metadata and controlled capture improve the starting dataset.

Is an internet connection required?

Online licences require internet access to use paid functions. Dealer-supplied offline versions can use paid functions after binding without an internet connection, although online-dependent services will not be available.

Is Terra still a general flight-planning application?

Not in the same way as earlier versions. DJI states that version 5.0 and later no longer support the older general route-planning role; route planning is limited to detailed inspection and agriculture workflows.
